Crop, resize and rotate tools
Geometry tools change the shape and the size of an image, never its colors. Crop cuts a rectangle out of it, resize scales the whole picture to new pixel dimensions, and change canvas size moves the picture inside a larger or smaller frame without scaling it - that is the difference between resizing the artwork and adding space around it. Change aspect ratio forces new proportions, and trim empty space removes the transparent or uniform border a screenshot came with.
Rotation comes in two forms. The 90, 180 and 270 degree turn moves every pixel exactly, so nothing is resampled and nothing gets blurry - that is the one to use for photos. A free rotation takes any angle, and any angle other than a right one has to interpolate the pixels it lands between, which softens the edges slightly. Flipping mirrors the image horizontally or vertically instead.
The remaining tools place and repeat. Padding and a border add space and a frame, zooming scales up around the center, shifting moves the picture inside its canvas, tiling repeats the image as a pattern, and splitting cuts it into parts - rows, columns, or a grid - which is the way to export a long screenshot or a contact sheet as separate files.
